The Learners Education and Assistance Program (LEAP) is for people who have passed a Driver Knowledge Test and have their learner licence but don’t have access to a car or an unrestricted licensed driver to supervise them.
How does the program work?
Upon registering with LEAP you will be linked to a local driving school to assess your driving skill level.
After being assessed you will be linked with a Volunteer Mentor who will help you attain your 120 hours of supervised driving.
We will help you prepare for your Driving Test for a Provisional Licence, including practice night driving.
Mentor and Car
LEAP will provide an automatic car and a Volunteer Mentor that will be matched to each Learner Driver.
Availability of program driving hours is dependant on the availability of volunteers and the number of Learners registered.
Driving School Assessment
Participant’s driving skills will be assessed by a local driving school (the cost of this is to be paid by the participant) prior to being placed with a
volunteer mentor.
Fees & Charges
LEAP has a registration fee of $180 which includes an assessment with a local driving school and 100 kilometres of driving.
Once the 100 kilometres are used you can pre purchase extra kilometres at 70 cents per kilometre.
Installment Payment Option
From the date of enrolment an installment payment option is available to help you spread the cost of the registration and assessment fees.
