BINC
offers an information and referral service that helps
people find information they need on:- community services,
local associations, self help groups and leisure activities.
It
is a great place for those who are new to Bathurst and want
to access local networks and services; also for those who
have a need or query and are not sure where to go for help
or support.
For
those who wish to expand their interests and activities or
wish to contribute to the community through volunteering,
BINC can help you investigate the possibilities.
BINC is your Community Centre and you are welcome to pop in
for a cuppa and a chat, change the baby or wait for an appointment.
Resources BINC can also send faxes, photocopy
and laminate documents etc and offer free access to a computer
Meeting
Rooms BINC has a variety of spaces available
for community groups.
The
following services are provided through BINC to the community
of Bathurst. Some are voluntary while others receive some
funding.
Community
Visitors Scheme, which co-ordinates volunteers
to visit residents in Nursing Homes.
DIAS
(Disability, Information and Advocacy Service)
is a family support and advocacy service for people with disabilities
and for their families.
Experienced
Hands..a program to encourage intergenerational volunteering.
Encore.
a Gentle Exercise Program for Women After Breast Cancer.
Friendly
Visitors Scheme. Volunteers visit isolated people
in their own homes.
Home
Maintenance and Modification, provides
modifications to the homes of frail aged and disabled people
wishing to remain in their own homes.
International
Friendship Group provides support and
friendship and a social network to people who have come to
Bathurst from other countries.
Legal
Aid Orange provides an outreach service
to Bathurst one-day per fortnight. BINC takes bookings and
provides support to the clients.
Merit
Program (Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment)
Merit is a local court program for defendants who have committed
drug related crimes
Migrant
Support Service provides information and
support to migrants moving into the Central West area.
No
Interest Loans Scheme Provides loans of
up to $800 for low income earners who are on Social Security
benefits and who live in the local area.
Pregnancy
Caring Supports those who experience stress
or difficulty ( not medical) over pregnancy or with a new
baby.
Side
by Side. A program to link people with
a disability to volunteering options with the support of a
volunteer mentor.
Toy
Library. The Happy Hopper Toy Library
at BINC offers access to good quality toys and puzzles to
children from 0 to 5 years.
University
of the Third Age. An education program
for the “over 50s
