Purpose of the Position To assist frail older people in their homes or in an aged care facility, to feel socially included through visits on a regular basis to establish and maintain friendships. Main Duties· Provide support to older people at least once a fortnight in an aged care facility, or one-on-one support in their own home· Demonstrate friendly visiting by having supportive and positive conversations· Engage in wellness and re-enablement activities with an older person e.g: letter writing, using technology, reading, playing a board game, assisting with shopping and outings or having a cuppa.
Other Responsibilities· To respect clients privacy and confidentiality (i.e. matters relating to your client must not be discussed with anyone other than the Coordinator)· To respect and encourage the clients differing needs for independence· To bring to the attention of the Coordinator any client concerns that may need addressing (it is not the responsibility of the volunteer to follow up any issues) · Comply with WHS regulations and Volunteer Policy
